This isn't even all of it. I have the Percy Jackson boxset sitting around nearby, a box for donation, a box for giving to kids in my family, and multiple boxes of books that didn't fit on the shelf before I cleaned it so I had to box them months ago - e.g. All of Harry Potter, classics, manga. Oh and there are a couple books out on loan.
How do I have so many books???
Q4U: Any bookshelf recommendations? What do you do with your overabundance of books?
IKEA has decent bookshelves for the price. You can get modular sets in different colors.
ReplyDeleteI usually sell the books I don't want to keep to a used bookstore.
Since buying a Kindle last year, I now read more e-books than paper ones, so I don't have to worry so much about storage. The shelves I have are already close to full, and I'm not sure where I'd put more.
Sounds like you're on the right track! I often find I can fit more books onto multiple smaller bookshelves than one large one, and they're easier to keep track of that way.
ReplyDeleteMy library had more or less plateaued between last summer when I got my nook, and ALA last month (score!). But I still weed through my book collection periodically to get rid of the ones I don't need to keep. Problem is deciding which ones I "need". ;)
I buy Billy bookshelves from IKEA - all the same width, height, etc, and so cheap. I have a few (huge) containers stored in my basement (all of my Animorph books) but otherwise I'm just, er, slowly creating a wall of books. There's nothing wrong with that, right? <_< >_>
ReplyDeleteGet a bigger bookshelf! Ikea, like everyone said, or Costco. Get something affordable and stylish so your books can be easily within reach, organized, and a design element in the room. Isn't that bookshelf like, 20 years old now?! Time to retire it!

ReplyDeleteI'm an open space addict, so with all the books I started buying this year, I'm seeing clutter, and clutter is unacceptable. lol. To me anyways.
However I do agree with some of the comments. Ikea has a decent collection of book cases.

Wait. You have the whole Percy Jackson set? CAN I BORROW?!?!? I'm going to teach that to my reluctant reader students next.

JULIANA- That's what I'm trying to do now. Looking at the books and going, "Will I ever read you?" Haha.
I'm feeling your pain. We have over 2k books, and let's just say that I've gotten creative. O:) Book stacking is an art unto itself. :p
